BA in Accounting
Curriculum Requirements
The Core Curriculum (47-53 hours)
Please reference the Core Curriculum Requirements.
Students are encouraged to spread their core courses out over four years to provide a good balance of Accounting courses in their Junior and Senior year.
Accounting majors pursuing CPA Licensure are advised to take specific courses in the Core Curriculum as follows:
- MA151 for Quantitative Reasoning
- MA208 or MA304 for Empirical Reasoning
- PH250 for Philosophy (Ethics)
- EC201 for Social Science

Non-Accounting Recommended Electives
Accounting Majors are encouraged to select free electives that will count towards a minor.
Students are encouraged to wait to select electives until their sophomore year.
Students may count two courses towards their major or minor.
General Electives (13-19 hours)
Internship: Although an internship is not required, it is strongly recommended. Accounting majors are encouraged to seek an internship as a rising sophomore and for each subsequent summer/year.
NOTE: A “C” average or above for all courses in the Accounting Major.
