Minor in Human Services
Overview
Human Services is a broad, interdisciplinary field aimed at working with individuals groups, families, and agencies to implement change in the quality of life among individuals and communities. The minor in Human Services provides students interested in a career in the helping professions with an academic base of knowledge, theories, and skills needed to ethically assist diverse individuals, families, and communities to thrive through the prevention and remediation of problems in a manner consistent with a Christian worldview. The minor in Human Services emphasizes both theoretical and experiential learning aimed at optimizing human interactions and finding meaningful solutions to problems. Such knowledge and skills will assist students seeking careers in diverse professional settings such as social services, nonprofit agencies, court services, correctional settings, youth facilities, community mental health centers, child and family services, ministry, educational settings, and health care.
Curriculum Requirements
Total Required Credits: 15 credits
To earn a minor in Human Services, students must complete fifteen (15) Human Service credits at the 200-level or above. Student must earn a "C-" or higher in all courses and earn an average GPA of 2.0 or higher for the HS minor courses.
Students may choose any HS 200-level course or above for a total of 15 credit hours.
