CJ405 Leadership in Public Safety Agencies
This course examines contemporary leadership issues in today's complex public safety agencies. Course material will provide students with a practical understanding of public safety leadership and a framework for understanding components from which effective leadership emerges: timing, organizational characteristics, and individual characteristics. Students will learn the different dimensions and/or styles of leadership, as well as the methods effective public safety leaders use to build solidarity within groups, organizations and communities. Students will also examine public safety leadership and organizational issues and problems, and discover ways to resolve them. The application of Servant Leadership in the public sector will be discussed. Offered as needed.
