NU680 Assessment & Evaluation in Nursing Education
This course is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively assess and evaluate student learning in nursing education. Students will explore various assessment strategies, including traditional methods (e.g., tests, quizzes, assignments) and alternative assessments (e.g., portfolios, simulations, clinical performance). The course will delve into the principles of sound assessment design, validity, reliability, and fairness, along with ethical considerations and best practices for appropriate management. We will explore the role of assessment in promoting student learning and professional development of faculty. Students will also learn about the importance of evaluation in providing feedback, measuring student progress, and improving curriculum.
