CJ312 Introduction to Legal Research and Writing

This course is designed for those interested in pursuing a career that interfaces with the courts or the legal profession. It acquaints students with the tools and skills used to perform research and analysis when presented with legal problems. In addition to reviewing the sources of law and basic legal principles in the United States, students will learn how to confront a factual scenario, identify the legal issues, find legal authority that addresses those issues, and apply that authority to reach a legal conclusion. Students will be introduced to and utilize hardcopy and online resources and complete some basic legal writing assignments.
