HI347 American Sainthood

Saints provide examples of faith for Catholics, but they also provide a lens to understand the history of American Catholicism. Students will study the Catholic American experience through the nation's saints, candidates for sainthood, and unsuccessful candidates. The course will provide a theoretical foundation for studying the history of religion and the field of memory studies.
