MU111 Seminary Schola

The St Joseph College Seminary Schola is the choir of the seminary chapel, which sings for regular liturgies at the seminary. These include Vespers, or Evening Prayer, often with Benediction, and Mass. The schola rehearses twice per week and sings Vespers frequently, plus a minimum of ten Masses a semester, and Solemn Vespers with Benediction at least six times. Several of these latter liturgies will occur at St Ann’s Church in Charlotte and are open to the public. The goal of the course is to immerse the students in the music tradition of the Catholic Church so that they are able to sing polyphony at sight and worship through genuine sacred music.
