MU302 Mendelssohn: His Life & Times
An extraordinary prodigy of Mozartean abilities, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy was a distinguished composer and conductor, a legendary pianist and organist, and an accomplished painter and classicist. This course examines Mendelssohn's times (first half of the 19th century), his music, and the impact he had on society which continues to today. Readings include writings of the period and that of modern scholars.
