Minor in Art History
Overview
In the Art History Minor, we study the historical and cultural contexts of cities, buildings, monuments, sculpture, paintings, crafts, and infrastructure. We address how and why these sites and objects are meaningful in human societies. We also study the technologies which produced these structures and objects. Because we live in a built environment and a visual culture, invested with meaning, in which we participate daily, knowing the history of our material culture enables us to make informed decisions about our societies and provides an understanding of past cultural undertakings.
