EN225 Fiction to Film

Prerequisite: RH 104 or RH 102 In this course we will consider significant works of modern literature alongside prominent film adaptations of those works. We will examine and analyze the strategies filmmakers employ as they attempt to present, revise, and sometimes radically transform stories originally told in prose. Filmmakers considered will include major figures of post-1945 cinema such as Elia Kazan, John Huston, Francis Ford Coppola, Martin Scorsese, and the Coen Brothers. Fulfills the Fine Arts requirement.
