EN403 Medieval Literature

Prerequisites: EN 211, EN 212 Introduces students to significant works and ideas of the long Middle Ages. Works studied in translation from Old English and Gaelic include Beowulf, selections from The Tain, and works in Middle English. Other works studied include Gawain and the Green Knight, selections from Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales, and late medieval works written near the dawn of the Renaissance, such as Mallory’s Le Morte d’Arthur, and examples of Medieval drama.
