EN423 World Anglophone Literature

Prerequisites: EN 211 and EN 212. In this course we will explore the works of contemporary literature by authors from English-speaking countries, excluding the more commonly studied authors of Britain and the U.S., in an attempt to better understand the conflicts and tensions inherent in the rise of a global or world literature in English. Authors studied may include Chinua Achebe, Derek Walcott, Seamus Heaney, Brian Friel, Wole Soyinka, Les Murray, Amitav Gosh, and others.
