PO321 Contemporary Political Thought
A study of contemporary works of political theory. Works studied may include those of Hannah Arendt, Karl Popper, Friedrich Hayek, Leo Strauss, Isaiah Berlin, Eric Voegelin, Auriel Kolnai, Bertrand de Jouvenel, Martin Rhonheimer, Raymond Aron, Theodor W. Adorno, and Jürgen Habermas. The course may also focus on contemporary understandings of liberalism and communitarianism through the works of John Rawls, Robert Nozik, Michael Sandel, Charles Taylor, Pierre Manent, and John Courtney Murray.
