Prerequisite: PC 201; CJ 201; or ED 310W Introduction to child maltreatment and family violence; developmental considerations, victimization, assessment, preventions, interventions, therapy recommendations & safety plans, legal and ethical issues, roles of helping professionals, research findings and community resources; including a survey of the subject of child maltreatment: definitions of terms, child neglect, child physical abuse, child sexual abuse, child psychological maltreatment, history of child abuse/neglect, treatment resources, reporting issues and legal/ethical issues in North Carolina.
