HS340 Human Behavior in the Social Context
This course provides an overview of the major theories and constructs of human development, behavior, and diversity with a focus on the reciprocal relationship between individual behavior and social environments at both the micro- and macro level. Social systems and conditions that facilitate or inhibit functioning and interactions at various stages of development are discussed to enable students to engage in effective service delivery to individuals and groups of diverse backgrounds. The course examines policy and research implications of human behavior in social environments. In keeping with the School’s mission, special attention is given to vulnerable populations and how social systems promote or deter the development of individuals and families
