HS355 Understanding Research Methods

Prerequisite: C or higher in HS110 & HS350; RH104 (traditional students) or RH106 & BU315W (ADP students). This course examines methods of scientific inquiry for an empirical approach to human service practice and delivery. Students gain the skills in formulating appropriate research questions, methods for testing relationships between variables, data collection, validity and reliability issues, and the ethics of scientific inquiry. The course will help students understand practice through an examination of methods associated with empirical decision-making, critical thinking, and ethical judgment for the purpose of developing research-informed practice.
