MBA623 Information Security and Protection of Information Assets

In this course, students will be introduced to the various layers of IT security and system interfaces and the flow of transactions, and the control points that should be implemented throughout the information lifecycle to prevent/detect financial and technology operations risks. Through the lens of a system interface diagram, students will take a deep dive into various system interfaces to evaluate the flow of transactions. Students will perform test procedures that will identify risk surrounding Information Technology General Controls (ITGC), logical access controls and application controls. Students will apply their knowledge by designing appropriate tests of controls and identifying sufficient and appropriate evidence to support the results of testing. Students will also go through a mock audit and assess various scenarios and issues commonly encountered on ITGC audits. Students will be exposed to the basics of extraction, preparation and manipulation of data using as one of several methods used to test IT Controls.
