HS365 Family Violence

Prerequisites: C- or higher in CJ201, HS110, PC201, or SO201 This course examines family violence across the lifespan in the context of an ecological system’s framework. Historical, social, cultural, political, psychological, and legal aspects of family violence will be considered, along with its impact on individual and family functioning. The role of substance use and addictions in family violence is also considered. Professional and social responses that include identification and reporting procedures, prevention strategies, interventions, community resources, educational initiatives, and responses to the disclosure of family violence in agency and private settings are considered.
